Dr. Pigni’s presentation is: 5G: When Two Worlds Collide

The recent digital innovation spree has given birth to a new breed of companies that to some extent remembers the euphoria of the dot-com era. Unicorns-startups valued today billions, including Airbnb, Dropbox, Pinterest, Slack, Spotify, and Uber are the notable representatives of this “digital renaissance.” The coming of 5G networks represents “the perfect storm” set to impact vertical industries (e.g., automotive, media, transportation, leisure) and disrupting existing business models. However, the new services, applications, data and revenue streams pose both managerial and technological challenges. Firms are required to move beyond their traditional practices conceiving platforms and ecosystems where hardware and software specific attributes intertwine. In his talk, Federico Pigni will address the 5G opportunity hinting to the foundational requirements of a 5G enhanced business strategy set to realize its full potential.
